oh absolutely, i basically learned how to do everything through trial and error experimentation aaaaand youtube tutorials. here’s a list of some of my favorites:
- Cherylynn Lima - Cute and clean low poly style, does lots of tutorials for humanoid character modeling. Super accessible for beginners (but check out her more complex work too, her demo reel is fantastic!). Her Low Poly Humanoid Model series in particular is an absolute treasure for those just learning the program and what it can do (i know it was for me!)
- YanSculpts - More complex modeling, sculpting, and texture work step by step. Super informative, has lots of videos showcasing nodes and modifiers and what they do as well. Most videos are isolated tutorials, meaning here’s one specifically for sculpting mouths and lips in blender, here’s one for sculpting noses and eyes in blender, but there are also videos that answer lots of questions and concerns about 3D modeling and using Blender in general. They update regularly as well, and have a pretty active community, so if you’ve got any particular questions or concerns about anything, you might find an answer there.
- Mas Baco - Lots of speed modeling and time lapses for both low and high poly models and sculptures, really interesting to watch and analyze. Some of their videos, like this one, dip a little into rigging and animation, too.
everybody has to start somewhere, so hopefully these will help you as much as they helped me!
can’t wait to see what you create!
edit: i remembered some more tutorials that i really found helpful when i was starting out, so i’ll add them here.
- Grant Abbitt - This channel has tons and tons of blender tutorials ranging from beginner to pro level content, but this particular video is probably the one that I love the most. It’s a guide on modeling low poly style animals, but the technique can definitely be applied to other things, too. It’s really short as well, just a little over 10 minutes long.
- PigArt - Awesome 3D art channel, lots of really cool speed modeling and speed painting videos, with some really really neat stylized tutorials thrown in here and there.
